Professional Puppy Training
We are so happy that professional dog trainer Kathy Novokshonoff CPDT of Panda Bear Kennels is available to train puppies from Over The Moon Australian Labradoodles. It is a privilege to have this quality of training for our puppies.

The First Week of Training
The first week of the program is devoted to learning the rules of my household. The pups live with my family of four active teenage boys, my large dogs (2 Mastiffs, 1 Bernese Mountain Dog and an Australian Shepherd) and my 5 cats. They also play with various pups/dogs which come in for daycare/boarding. I take the pups on numerous off leash walks to explore our 42 acres. The pups learn to sleep all night in a crate in my bedroom. On frequent daytime potty breaks they learn to potty on command (within a 3 minute period and definitely outside!). The pups live in my dog friendly living room for the majority of the day. I include one or two naps in their crates during the day. This week allows me to get to know the pups, recover from sleepless nights and plan an individualized program to teach the basics.

Going Home
When it is time for the puppy to go home either Jean will arrange transportation or the puppy family can pick up the puppy. If the family is able to come usually an appointment can be made with Kathy to go over the puppy's ongoing training requirements and his accomplishments. We love to meet all of our puppy families if it is possible.

Labradoodle Board and Train Program
With this program I take 10 week old puppies into my home and train basic manners and simple cues to help your puppy be the best pet it can be. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a professional member of both major dog training associations; the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (www.apdt.com) and the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (www.cappdt.ca). I am an avid learner and constantly updating my training techniques by attending national and international training conferences and as many seminars as I can.
Methods
I use a variety of positive reward based training methods to accomplish my goals. I use clicker training (www.clickertraining.com) to establish and practice simple cues like sit, down, off/leave it, and coming when called. I teach loose lead walking and try to include walks in various areas in our small town. I teach a “go to your mat” cue and other settling/relaxation techniques. I teach the basics of crating and beginning house training. I also include a variety of socialization exercises including puppy play session with different puppies/people, car rides, walks in town, exposure to chilren and other animals and any other experience that will help to create a social well rounded pet.Second And Third Training Week
During the second and third week, I introduce short, frequent training sessions to teach basic cues. I also work with pups individually in my kitchen while I do chores. I teach the pup to respond to their names, make eye contact, and I work on improving manners, attitude and bonding with people.The Fourth Week of Training
The fourth week is devoted to proofing (practicing) the cues in different locations, with different distraction or increasing length of time. I work on daily walks on leash with no pulling. I also try to arrange different experiences for the pups depending on their needs. For example, pups that have been carsick, get frequent excursions into town. As circumstances allow, I try to have other people/children work the dogs.
Arrange Training For Your Over The Moon Puppy
Families arrange through Jean for Ms. Novokshonoff to take their puppy for training. The puppy will go to training at 10 weeks of age.
First a downpayment is made on the puppy and then the training fee of $500 is paid to Ms. Novokshonoff through Jean. There is also pet insurance required when the puppy leaves Over The Moon's property. It is a small amount and can be arranged through Jean. Additional vaccinations are required as the puppy becomes a month older. This cost is paid by Over The Moon Australian Labradoodles. There is no extra charge to the puppy's family.
